About this mattress

The Comfort Plus Pocket Spring Mattress in Single is a 92cm x 188cm single pocket spring mattress built to standard New Zealand dimensions. Support comes from independent pocket springs grouped into three zones, under a high-density foam comfort layer that sets the feel at Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The knitted cover is dust-mite resistant, anti-bacterial and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the foam inside is CertiPUR-US® certified. The mattress is 23cm thick with a tight top, weighs 16.5kg, and has a handle on each side. It ships roll-packed in a 28cm x 28cm x 102cm box that one person can carry in from the car in a single trip, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours of unrolling.

Who this mattress suits

  • A child moving up from a toddler bed — the first full-size bed in the room, and one that will be slept in every night for years rather than kept for visitors.
  • Sleepouts and cabins — a 23cm spring mattress in the room at the bottom of the garden, so whoever ends up out there is not on a foam pad.
  • A study that becomes a spare room — narrow enough to leave floor space for a desk, built well enough that guests do not notice it is the second bed.

Why choose the Comfort Plus

A single mattress has to earn its 92 centimetres. This one spends them on a full spring unit rather than a slab of foam: independent pocket springs, each in its own fabric pocket, grouped into three zones so support is tuned zone by zone instead of spread evenly from head to foot.

Above the springs sits a high-density foam comfort layer, finished as a tight top at 23cm, which takes the edge off the spring unit without letting a sleeper sink into it — the surface gives, then holds. The cover is a breathable knitted fabric, dust mite resistant and anti-bacterial, and both of the things in contact with a sleeper all night are certified — an OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified cover and CertiPUR-US® certified foam.

At 16.5kg with a handle on each side, one adult can carry it up a stairwell and turn it at the change of season without help. It arrives in one carton, and ordinary single sheets sit properly on a 23cm profile, so the bedding already in the cupboard goes straight on.

For a deeper comfort layer, more zones or a euro top, step up to Comfort Pro or Comfort Prime.

BeddingStandard New Zealand single fitted sheets

92 cm x 188 cm is the standard New Zealand single size, so any single frame or base built to NZ dimensions takes it. Single fitted sheets bought off the shelf sit properly on a 23 cm profile, with no deep-wall bedding needed. The mattress is roll-packed and vacuum-sealed into one carton, which is what lets one adult carry it up a stairwell; unrolled and left flat, it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the Comfort Plus Single, and will ordinary single sheets fit it?

It measures 92cm x 188cm and stands 23cm tall, which is the standard New Zealand single size. Single fitted sheets bought off the shelf sit properly on a 23cm profile, so there is no need for deep-wall bedding, and any single frame or base built to NZ dimensions will take it.

Why does a single bed need three zones?

The springs are grouped into three zones rather than sitting as one uniform field, so support is tuned zone by zone rather than spread evenly from head to foot. It matters most where the body is heaviest through the middle, which is the same on a single as it is on a wider bed.

How soft or firm is it?

It is Firm, 3 out of 10 on the Betalife softness scale where 10 is softest. The high-density foam comfort layer above the springs takes the edge off the surface, but the hips stay level rather than sinking in. If the sleeper is mostly a side sleeper, a softer level will suit them better.

How does it arrive, and how long before it is at full height?

It ships roll-packed in a sealed box measuring 28cm x 28cm x 102cm at 17.5kg, which one person can carry in from the car in a single trip. Unroll it onto the base and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

What certification does this mattress have?

The knitted cover is OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified and the foam inside is CertiPUR-US certified, which covers the layer against the skin as well as the layer under the body. Certificate numbers can be requested from customer service.

Is it suitable for a child's room?

It is a full 23cm spring mattress rather than a foam pad, with a breathable knitted cover that is dust mite resistant and anti-bacterial, and both the cover and the foam are certified. At 16.5kg with a handle on each side it is also easy to lift when the sheets need changing.
