Pocket Spring Mattress

A pocket spring mattress carries its coils in individual fabric pockets rather than wiring them into one connected unit. Each spring compresses on its own, so the surface responds point by point instead of moving as a single sheet. Zoning describes how those springs are grouped: a three-zone layout varies support across shoulders, hips and legs, while five and seven-zone layouts divide the same length more finely. The comfort layers above the spring unit set the feel, which is why two pocket spring mattresses with the same coil arrangement can sit at different points on the Plush to Firm scale.
