Bed frame material describes what the visible structure is made from, and it sets the look, the weight and how the frame is cleaned. A wooden frame leaves timber or panel construction exposed. A metal frame uses a welded or bolted tube structure, usually the lightest option. Upholstered frames are padded and wrapped in fabric, with linen, boucle and teddy weaves in the range; velvet is a separate upholstered finish with a directional pile, and PU is a wipeable synthetic leather. Material is independent of size and of storage type, so the same finish generally appears across the New Zealand standard sizes from Single to Super King.
