About this mattress

The Bamboo Prime 7 Zone Pocket Spring Mattress in Super King is a 183cm x 203cm super king pocket spring mattress built to standard New Zealand dimensions. Support comes from a 30cm independent pocket spring unit divided into seven zones, under 2cm of high-density foam and a 1cm comfort layer that together set the feel at Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The cover is a hypoallergenic bamboo fabric, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the foams inside are CertiPUR-US® certified. The mattress is 33cm thick with a euro top padded flush to the edge, has handles on both sides, and weighs 50.2kg. It ships roll-packed in a 32cm x 32cm x 193cm box, which is how 183cm of 33cm-thick mattress gets into a bedroom, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours of unrolling.

Who this mattress suits

  • A large main bedroom with the floor space for 183 cm of width and room to walk around the bed.
  • Two people who want a genuinely separate side each, with the support divided along it.
  • Anyone buying the top of the Bamboo range and wanting to know what the money is in.

Why choose the Bamboo Prime

Nothing in the Bamboo range is deeper or more divided than this: seven zones over 30 cm of spring, where the Bamboo Pro runs five zones over 24 cm. The Pro is the firmer of the two at 2 out of 10; the Prime reads medium firm at 4 out of 10. On 183 cm of width, more sections is worth more than more resistance, because the centre of a bed this wide has to hold its line under two people at once. The Pro is the buy for a surface that pushes back hard; the Prime is the buy for more sections under a slightly softer surface.

Thirty of the 33 centimetres are the spring unit, with 2 cm of high-density foam over a 1 cm comfort layer on top. Every spring is encased on its own, so the centre carries what is on it rather than dishing, and a turn on one side does not travel 183 cm to the other.

The cover is a hypoallergenic bamboo fabric, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, over CertiPUR-US® certified foams. A large surface collects more warmth and moisture than a small one, and bamboo fibre moves that off the top layer instead of storing it.

Fifty kilograms of mattress needs somewhere to hold it. There are handles on both long sides.

Size and fit

Mattress sizeSuper King
Dimensions183 cm x 203 cm
Thickness33 cm
Mattress weight50.2 kg
Shipping box32 cm x 32 cm x 193 cm
BeddingDeep-wall super king fitted sheets

Check the room and the base before ordering: 183 cm x 203 cm needs a super king frame and enough floor left over to walk around the bed. At 33 cm buy deep-wall fitted sheets and check the wall measurement rather than assuming any deep-wall sheet will reach. It arrives roll-packed and vacuum-sealed in a box 193 cm long, which is how 183 cm of 33 cm-thick mattress gets into a bedroom. Unwrap it on the base and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How firm is the Bamboo Prime Super King?

It is medium firm, 4 out of 10 on our scale where 10 is softest. The 3 cm of foam gives at the surface and the 30 cm seven-zone spring unit does the supporting underneath.

Is the Prime firmer than the Bamboo Pro?

No. The Pro is the firmer of the two, at 2 out of 10 against the Prime's 4. What the Prime adds is depth and division — seven zones across 30 cm of spring, where the Pro runs five across 24 cm. Buy the Pro for a surface that pushes back hard, and the Prime for more sections under a slightly softer surface.

Will I feel my partner moving?

Much less than on a continuous spring mattress. Each spring is encased on its own, and at 183 cm wide you are further apart than on any other size we sell.

What are the handles on the sides for?

Moving it. At 50.2 kg and 33 cm thick this is the heaviest mattress in the range, and the handles are there so two people can lift it onto the base rather than drag it.

What certification does this mattress have?

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 on the bamboo cover and CertiPUR-US® on the foams — the surface against your skin and the layers under your body are both covered. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

Will it fit my room?

Measure before ordering. At 183 cm x 203 cm a super king needs a matching frame and enough floor space to walk around the bed once it is in place. The mattress arrives in a 193 cm box, so getting it into the room is the easy part.
