About this mattress

The Bamboo Prime 7 Zone Pocket Spring Mattress in Single is a 92cm x 188cm single pocket spring mattress built to standard New Zealand dimensions. Support comes from a 30cm independent pocket spring unit divided into seven zones, under 2cm of high-density foam and a 1cm comfort layer that together set the feel at Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The cover is a hypoallergenic bamboo fabric, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the foams inside are CertiPUR-US® certified. The mattress is 33cm thick with a euro top padded flush to the edge, has handles on both sides, and weighs 24kg. It ships roll-packed in a 32cm x 32cm x 102cm box, so a 33cm mattress reaches an upstairs bedroom without being folded, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours of unrolling.

Who this mattress suits

  • A single bed bought as the best one in the house rather than the spare one.
  • Back and side sleepers who want depth and zoning without the hardest surface in the range.
  • A small room where 33 cm of mattress height changes how the bed reads.

Why choose the Bamboo Prime

The firmest mattress in the Bamboo range is the Pro, at 2 out of 10. This one reads medium firm at 4 out of 10, and what it adds instead is depth and division: seven zones across 30 cm of spring, where the Pro runs five across 24 cm. On a 92 cm single all seven of those zones sit under one body, so the shoulders, the hips and the legs each rest on their own section. If you want the surface to push back hard, the Pro is the buy. If you want more sections under a slightly softer surface, this is.

Of the 33 centimetres, 30 are the spring unit and three are 2 cm of high-density foam over a 1 cm comfort layer. The number on the label is the support system, not padding stacked on top of it, and every spring sits in its own fabric pocket so it takes the weight directly above it.

The cover is a hypoallergenic bamboo fabric, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, over CertiPUR-US® certified foams. Bamboo fibre moves moisture off the surface rather than holding it, which matters more on a deep mattress in a small room.

There are handles on both sides. On a 33 cm build that is how you get it square on the base without dragging it across the slats.

Mattress weight24 kg

BeddingDeep-wall single fitted sheets

At 33 cm this sits well above standard sheet depth, so buy deep-wall fitted sheets and check the wall measurement rather than assuming any deep-wall sheet will reach. It arrives roll-packed and vacuum-sealed in a box 102 cm long, which is how a 33 cm mattress gets up a stairwell without being folded. Unwrap it on the base and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How firm is the Bamboo Prime Single?

It is medium firm, 4 out of 10 on our scale where 10 is softest. The 3 cm of foam gives at the surface and the 30 cm seven-zone spring unit does the supporting underneath.

Is the Prime firmer than the Bamboo Pro?

No. The Pro is the firmer of the two, at 2 out of 10 against the Prime's 4. What the Prime adds is depth and division — seven zones across 30 cm of spring, where the Pro runs five across 24 cm. Buy the Pro for a surface that pushes back hard, and the Prime for more sections under a slightly softer surface.

What are the handles on the sides for?

Moving it. At 24 kg and 33 cm thick this is a mattress you want to lift onto the base and square up, not drag.

What certification does this mattress have?

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 on the bamboo cover and CertiPUR-US® on the foams — the surface against your skin and the layers under your body are both covered. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

What size sheets do I need?

Deep-wall single fitted sheets, and check the sheet's wall measurement before buying. At 33 cm this is deeper than most deep-wall bedding is cut for.

Can I flip it?

No. The euro top and the comfort layers sit on one side only, so this mattress is not designed to be flipped. Rotating it head to foot every few months spreads the wear evenly.
