Description
The Vinson double bed base is made in New Zealand and arrives fully built, so there is nothing to assemble. The upholstered box measures 137 x 188 cm and is 24 cm deep, standing 39 cm from the floor on six legs, which leaves 15 cm of clearance underneath for storage. The mattress sits on top of the padded platform rather than inside rails, so it takes a standard 138 x 188 cm double mattress. Metal struts run through the base for support, the frame is padded with foam and covered in black polyester, and headboard screw holes are set 91.5 cm apart. The mattress and headboard are sold separately.

Questions before you buy
Which mattress goes on the black Vinson double base?
A standard double at 138 x 188 cm, resting on the padded 137 x 188 cm platform. The mattress lies on top of the base rather than inside rails, so it is laid on rather than fitted in.
How far apart are the headboard bolt holes on the double?
91.5 cm apart at the head end. That spacing is what a separate headboard needs to match, and the headboard is bought on its own.
What height is the black double base off the floor?
39 cm overall — a 24 cm upholstered box carried on 15 cm of leg. The six legs can be swapped if a different bed height suits the room better.
Is 25.5 kg manageable for two people to carry in?
The base ships built and whole at 137 x 188 x 39 cm, weighing 25.5 kg. Two people can carry it, though doorways, stair turns and lifts on the route should be measured first.
What fits in the gap beneath the black double base?
15 cm, measured between the floor and the underside of the box. Flat-lidded boxes and slim suitcases slide in; anything taller should be checked against that figure first.
How is the black double base built underneath the fabric?
A box 24 cm deep with metal struts running through it, padded with foam and covered in black polyester on the top and all four sides. It is made in New Zealand.
