About this mattress

The LivingTopia Hybrid Prime King is a pocket-spring, foam and latex mattress in the New Zealand king size, 167cm x 203cm. It is supported by a 24cm pocket spring unit on 1.8mm wire with a foam surround encasing all four sides, topped by 3.5cm of wave foam, 1cm of gel memory foam, 1cm of natural latex and 2cm of support foam, for a feel of Firm, 2 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The soft knitted cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams to CertiPUR-US®. It is 32cm thick with a euro top padded flush to the edge and weighs 42.7kg. It is delivered roll-packed in a single carton, which is what turns 167cm of deep mattress into something that can be carried through a house, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Who this mattress suits

  • Couples with 167 cm of width who want the firmest surface in the Hybrid range under both of them.
  • Sleepers who use the outer thirds of a king, where the euro top padding runs out to the edge.
  • Households happy with a 32 cm mattress height, which sits the sleeping surface well above a standard base.

Why choose the Hybrid Prime

A king is where the spring unit has to do the most work, and this one is 24 cm deep on 1.8 mm wire with foam encasing all four sides. That surround is the reason the outer edge of a 167 cm bed stays sittable rather than folding away.

On top of the springs are 2 cm of support foam, 1 cm of natural latex, 1 cm of gel memory foam and 3.5 cm of wave foam at the surface. The gel layer softens where load is applied and spreads it; the latex pushes back and recovers as you shift, so the two materials do opposite jobs.

The range does not get softer as it gets taller. This king is Firm, 2 out of 10 where 10 is softest, on 32 cm. The Classic king is Firm at 3 out of 10 on 20 cm. The Plus king is Medium Firm at 4 out of 10 on 25 cm, and it is the one to choose if you want give at the surface rather than depth beneath it.

For delivery the mattress is compressed and rolled. We do not currently hold confirmed carton dimensions for the king, so our team can give you the packed size on request. What is certain is that a 42.7 kg mattress at 32 cm arrives as a roll rather than at full loft. The cover meets OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams meet CertiPUR-US®, with certificate numbers available from our team on request.

Firmness is felt, not measured. Body shape, weight and sleeping position all change how the same surface reads, so use this level to compare our mattresses with each other rather than as a promise of how it will feel to you.

BeddingDeep-wall king fitted sheets

Deep-wall king fitted sheets are essential at 32 cm, and because that is deeper than most deep-wall sheets are cut for, check the wall measurement on the packet. It arrives roll-packed in one carton, which is how a mattress this deep and this heavy gets through a doorway; our team can confirm the carton size on request. Unroll it and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How firm is the king?

Firm, 2 out of 10 where 10 is softest. It is the firmest surface across the three Hybrid mattresses we describe.

Why would I choose the Plus over this?

If you want the surface to give. The Plus reads Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest, because of its memory foam layer, and the Classic reads 3. This Prime is 2, so it is firmer than both even though it is the tallest.

What is the foam surround for?

It encases all four sides of the spring unit. On a bed 167 cm across, that is what stops the border folding away when it is sat on, and it keeps more of the width worth sleeping on. The gel memory foam and the latex are doing something else entirely: one spreads pressure at the point of contact, the other recovers its shape as you move.

What certification does this mattress have?

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 on the knitted cover and CertiPUR-US® on the foams. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

What sheets does it take?

Deep-wall king fitted sheets, with the stated wall depth checked, because 32 cm is beyond what many deep-wall sheets are made to cover.

Does movement carry from one side to the other?

Less than on an open coil mattress, since every spring is pocketed, and 167 cm of width means there is distance for it to dissipate. It is reduced rather than absent.
