Hybrid Classic King Mattress
About this mattress
The LivingTopia Hybrid Classic King is a pocket-spring and foam mattress in the New Zealand king size, 167cm x 203cm. It is supported by a 16cm pocket spring unit on 1.8mm wire with no zoning, topped by 3.5cm of wave foam, 1cm of ventilated open-cell foam and 1cm of firm support foam, giving a feel of Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The soft knitted cover carries OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification and the foams carry CertiPUR-US®. The mattress is 20cm thick with a tight top and weighs 32.1kg. It is delivered roll-packed in a 28cm x 28cm x 177cm carton, which matters at 167cm wide because a king at full loft is hard to turn on a staircase landing, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.
Who this mattress suits
- Couples who want 83 cm of personal width each and a surface that stays flat under both.
- Bedrooms large enough for a 167 cm frame where a queen has started to feel narrow.
- Households moving a king upstairs, where the carton matters as much as the mattress.
Why choose the Hybrid Classic
Springs carried in separate fabric pockets are what makes a king work for two people of different weights. This unit is 16 cm deep on 1.8 mm wire and is not zoned, so the bed reads the same whichever side you sleep on.
The open-cell layer sits one centimetre deep between 3.5 cm of wave foam above and 1 cm of firm support foam below. Its structure is ventilated, meaning air can travel through the foam rather than be trapped in it; we do not extend that into a claim about temperature.
Height and firmness do not track each other across the Hybrid range, which is worth knowing before you spend up at king size. The Classic is Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest, at 20 cm. The Plus is 25 cm and Medium Firm, 4 out of 10, with the most surface give of the three because of its memory foam. The Prime is 32 cm and Firm, 2 out of 10, the firmest of the three. For the firmest surface take the Prime; for the most give, the Plus.
Getting a king mattress into an upstairs room is the part people underestimate. Rolled and boxed at 28 cm x 28 cm x 177 cm, this one goes up as a carton rather than as a 167 cm slab. The cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams to CertiPUR-US®, and certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

Frequently asked questions
How firm is the king?
Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. There is not much foam above the springs, so the surface holds flat rather than cushioning.
Why is the middle model, the Plus, softer than this and the Prime?
It has a memory foam layer the Classic does not, which puts it at Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The Prime is the tallest at 32 cm but returns to Firm at 2 out of 10 on a deeper spring unit. So the softest surface in the range is the middle one.
Why is there a ventilated foam layer?
It is 1 cm of open-cell foam under the wave foam. The cells are open, so air moves through the layer instead of being held inside the foam. It is not sold as a cooling feature.
What certification does this mattress have?
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 covers the knitted fabric and CertiPUR-US® covers the foams. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.
Will my current king sheets fit?
If they are standard New Zealand king fitted sheets, yes. The mattress is 20 cm deep, which is inside normal sheet depth.
Does movement carry across a bed this wide?
Less than on a linked coil mattress, because every spring sits in its own pocket. With 167 cm between the outside edges there is also more distance for movement to fade before it reaches the other side.
