Hybrid Classic Double Mattress
About this mattress
The LivingTopia Hybrid Classic Double is a pocket-spring and foam mattress built to the New Zealand double size, 137cm x 188cm. Underneath, a 16cm pocket spring unit on 1.8mm wire supports the bed without zoning; above it are 3.5cm of wave foam, 1cm of ventilated open-cell foam and 1cm of firm support foam, and the result is Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The soft knitted cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams to CertiPUR-US®. It stands 20cm tall with a tight top and weighs 25.5kg. It comes roll-packed in a 28cm x 28cm x 147cm carton, which is easier to move through a standard doorway than a 137cm wide mattress at full loft, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.
Who this mattress suits
- Two adults sharing 137 cm of width, about 68 cm each, who want a firm surface rather than a plush one.
- Smaller bedrooms and rentals where a queen will not fit but a single is not enough for two.
- Guest rooms that see occasional double use and need a mattress that can be carried in and out in one carton.
Why choose the Hybrid Classic
Underneath the foam sits a 16 cm pocket spring unit on 1.8 mm wire. The springs run as one continuous layer, so the bed reads the same from side to side, and because each one is in its own pocket, one sleeper turning over does not lift the whole surface under the other.
Ventilated foam is the layer that gives this tier its character in the middle of the stack. It is 1 cm thick, sits under 3.5 cm of wave foam and over 1 cm of firm support foam, and its open structure lets air move through rather than be held in the foam.
Buyers comparing this double against the other two Hybrid tiers should read the firmness numbers rather than the heights. Classic is Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest, at 20 cm. Plus is 25 cm and Medium Firm, 4 out of 10, with a memory foam layer that gives it the most surface give of the three. Prime is 32 cm and Firm, 2 out of 10, the firmest of them. For the most give in a double, look at the Plus; for the firmest, the Prime.
A 137 cm mattress is awkward to carry at full loft, which is why this one is compressed, rolled and boxed at 28 cm x 28 cm x 147 cm. Cover certification is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams are CertiPUR-US® certified, with certificate numbers available from our team on request.

Frequently asked questions
How firm is the double?
It is Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. Expect a flat surface with little sink, which is what stomach and back sleepers and heavier body weights usually ask for.
Why does the Plus feel softer than this Classic and the Prime?
The Plus adds an antibacterial memory foam layer above its springs, so it reads Medium Firm at 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest, the most give of the three. The Prime is the tallest at 32 cm but the firmest at 2 out of 10. The middle model is the soft one.
What is the open-cell foam layer?
It is 1 cm of ventilated foam between the wave foam and the springs. The structure is open, so air moves through the layer rather than being trapped in it. That is a construction detail, not a cooling claim.
What certification does this mattress have?
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 for the knitted cover and CertiPUR-US® for the foams. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.
Do I need deep sheets?
No. At 20 cm this fits standard New Zealand double fitted sheets, which are cut for mattresses of this depth.
Will I feel my partner moving?
Each spring is pocketed and moves on its own, so less of your partner's turning reaches your side than on an open-coil bed. On 137 cm of width you are close together, so some movement will still carry across.
