About this mattress

The LivingTopia FirmNest Prime Queen Mattress is a 153cm x 203cm queen, made to the New Zealand standard for this size. Above the springs: a three-layer comfort stack of 3.5cm wave foam, 1cm gel memory foam and 1cm high-density foam, under a euro top padded out to the perimeter. The springs themselves are 24cm seven-zone pocket springs on 1.8mm and 1.9mm wire, and together they read Firm, 2 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The cover is soft knitted fabric, and every FirmNest mattress carries OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 for the cover and CertiPUR-US® for the foams. The mattress is 30cm deep, has a euro top padded flush to the edge, and comes in at 37.1kg. It arrives roll-packed in a 32cm x 32cm x 163cm carton, which spares the queen most New Zealand frames are built around from being carried at full width, and once unrolled it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Who this mattress suits

  • Couples where one person gets up earlier — 153 cm of width keeps some distance between you on a 30 cm build.
  • One adult who wants a full 153 cm and 203 cm of length to themselves, Firm rather than soft.
  • Households replacing a tired queen and wanting 2 out of 10 rather than the sag they have now.

Why choose the FirmNest Prime

Support comes from 1.8 mm and 1.9 mm wire wound into a 24 cm spring layer with seven zones. A 153 cm queen carries two adults on the size most New Zealand frames are built for, and the 30 cm build keeps the surface level between them.

Between you and the springs: the euro top itself, padded to the edge rather than stitched short of it, and below it 3.5 cm of wave foam, 1 cm of gel memory foam and 1 cm of high-density foam. On a queen the comfort layers cover 153 cm of width, and the specification does not change between the middle and the sides of a Firm surface.

Reading the range in order of softness, Classic is the softest at 5 out of 10 and Prime the firmest at 2, with Plus at 4 and Pro at 3. A Prime queen is the firmest queen in FirmNest. It adds seven zones, a 24 cm spring unit and a flush-padded euro top over the Pro queen; buyers who want more give usually drop to the Pro at 3 or the Plus at 4. Most queen buyers are choosing for two, so it is worth both of you knowing this is 2 out of 10 before it arrives.

Pocket springs move on their own, so less of your turning reaches the other side of the bed. Queen sheets are the easiest bedding to buy in New Zealand; take the deep-wall version to clear 30 cm, and rotate the mattress head to foot every few months.

Size and fit

Mattress sizeQueen
Dimensions153 cm x 203 cm
Thickness30 cm
Mattress weight37.1 kg
Shipping box32 cm x 32 cm x 163 cm
BeddingDeep-wall queen fitted sheets

Check the sheet depth before delivery. At 30 cm deep this needs deep-wall queen fitted sheets; standard-depth sheets tend to pull off the corners. Roll-packing puts it into a 32 cm x 32 cm x 163 cm carton, which is what makes a full 153 cm queen manageable in a two-storey house, and once opened it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How firm is the FirmNest Prime Queen?

Firm, 2 out of 10 where 10 is softest. Shape, weight and sleeping position all change how a queen reads to the person on it.

How does the FirmNest Prime compare with the Pro?

The Prime is 2 out of 10, the firmest of the four, on a scale where 10 is softest. The Pro below it is 3 out of 10, 26 cm rather than 30 cm, with three zones instead of seven, a 20 cm spring unit instead of 24 cm, and a tight top rather than a euro top. Further down, the Plus is 4 and the Classic 5. Queen buyers most often move one step at a time rather than jumping the range.

What does the gel memory foam layer do?

It is a 1 cm layer under the euro top. It softens the first few centimetres and spreads pressure where you press into it, which takes some of the hardness off a 2 out of 10 surface. It is a comfort layer and nothing more. Across a queen it lies below the euro top for the full width.

What certification does this mattress have?

The cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams are CertiPUR-US® certified. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

What sheets do I need for this mattress?

Bedding needs to be deep-wall: 30 cm is deeper than a standard queen fitted sheet allows. Queen sheets are the easiest size to buy here, so the only thing to watch is the 30 cm wall.

Will I feel my partner moving?

Less of it than on an open-coil bed. The springs are individually pocketed, so a turn compresses a local group rather than the whole surface, and 153 cm of width puts some distance between you. Some movement will still be felt.
