Description

Dome sleeps three in the floor space of one double bed. A single mattress goes on top and a double underneath, which suits a sibling pair who need a spare spot for a friend, or a holiday house that has to absorb whoever turns up. The ends are wide-slatted panels in a white finish, the ladder is inclined rather than vertical so the climb is easier, and full-length guardrails run along the top bunk. It comes apart into two separate beds if the room changes.

Mattress compatibility

One single plus one double mattress

Dome takes one single mattress on the top bunk and one double mattress below. Both are sold separately; the listing is for the bed frame only.

Room footprint and ceiling

The assembled bunk is 201 cm long, 147 cm wide and 154 cm tall. It is as wide as a double bed, so plan the floor space accordingly and check the ceiling above the top bunk.

Mattress depth on the top bunk

Measure the depth of the single mattress going on top against the guardrail height in the dimension diagram, so the rail still stands clear above the sleeping surface.

Materials & support

  • Pine and ply frame

Solid pine wood and ply form the frame, finished in white.

  • Wide-slat panel ends

The headboards and footboards are built from wide slats rather than open rails.

  • Inclined three-step ladder

The ladder is angled rather than vertical, which makes climbing to the top bunk easier.

  • Full-length guardrails

Guardrails run the length of the top bunk.

Questions before you buy

How many people does the Dome triple bunk sleep?

Three. A single mattress goes on the top bunk and a double mattress sits underneath, so two children can share the lower bed or one child can spread out. Both mattresses are sold separately.

What mattress sizes do I need to buy?

One single mattress for the top bunk and one double mattress for the bottom. The listing is for the bed frame only. Measure both against the 201 x 147 cm frame before ordering.

Can Dome be split into two separate beds?

Yes. The frame is designed to come apart into two separate beds, so the single and the double can be used in different rooms if the sleeping arrangements change.

How much floor space does it actually take?

Dome is 201 cm long and 147 cm wide, which is the footprint of a double bed. The saving is vertical, not horizontal, so measure the room as though you were fitting a double and add 154 cm of height.

Is the ladder easy for a child to climb?

The ladder has three steps and is inclined rather than vertical, which is designed to make climbing and getting down easier than a straight-up ladder.

How heavy is it and how does it arrive?

The frame weighs 53 kg and the two cartons total 57 kg. Carton A is 158 x 26.5 x 26 cm and Carton B is 208 x 31 x 16.5 cm. Assembly is required and the listing is for the bed only.

Should this bunk bed be secured to the wall?

A wall fixing kit is supplied with the bed and we strongly recommend using it. Find out what the wall behind the bed is built from before assembly day, so you have fixings suited to that surface.
