Alton Low Boy 8 Drawers - Natural + White

95cm is the height of the Alton Low Boy 8 Drawers, about 20cm taller than the six-drawer version in the same 120cm x 40cm footprint. Those two extra drawer rows come at the cost of sill clearance, so measure your window before choosing between them. The top remains usable for a lamp or frames.

Allow the 120cm width, 40cm of depth against the wall, and a further clear metre in front so a drawer can pull out while someone stands at it. In a bedroom where the bed sits close, measure the walking gap first, because eight drawers are only useful if you can open them fully.

Eight drawers let two people take four each, keeping shirts, knitwear, underwear and accessories apart without buying a second chest. Metal runners guide each drawer in and out, which reduces the dragging that bare timber slides develop over time. Spreading storage sideways rather than upwards keeps every drawer within easy reach.

A 25mm top board sits over the drawers on the Alton Low Boy 8 Drawers, in particle board finished with wood-look melamine in natural and white. That thickness gives the surface something to take a lamp or a mirror. Melamine cleans with a damp cloth rather than needing a timber polish.

Three cartons arrive: 130cm x 47.5cm x 10.5cm at 21.5kg, 88.5cm x 46.5cm x 14.5cm at 22.5kg, and 70.5cm x 45.5cm x 15.5cm at 18.5kg. Two of the three are over 20kg, so plan on a second pair of hands for stairs. The assembled chest weighs 57kg.

Assembly is required, and with eight drawer boxes to build alongside the carcass this is a long build. Sort the fixings by step before starting, work on a soft surface to protect the melamine, and fit the drawer fronts last so you can square the carcass first.
