Description
The Abigail Double is an upholstered gas lift bed frame in grey fabric. The entire poplar slat base rises on gas struts, opening a storage compartment 30 cm deep that runs the full footprint of the bed. Assembled it measures 204 x 146.5 x 86 cm and weighs 38.5 kg, and it takes a standard 138 x 188 cm double mattress. It arrives in two cartons for assembly at home; the mattress is sold separately.

Delivery & assembly
Arrives in two cartons
Carton A is 152 x 88.5 x 10.5 cm and 15.5 kg; carton B is 197 x 30 x 21.5 cm and 27 kg. The 197 cm carton is the one to measure stairwells, corners and doorways against.
Plan on two people
The heavier carton is 27 kg and just under two metres long, so two people make the carry into the bedroom much easier.
Assembled in the room
The frame ships flat and is put together where it will be used, which avoids manoeuvring a 38.5 kg assembled frame through the house.
Questions before you buy
What mattress size fits the Abigail Double gas lift bed?
A standard 138 x 188 cm double mattress. The slat base is built to that size, so a standard NZ double mattress and standard double bedding both fit without adjustment. The mattress is sold separately.
How much storage is under the Abigail Double bed frame?
The compartment is 30 cm deep and runs the full 204 x 146.5 cm footprint of the frame, because the whole slat base lifts rather than a drawer sliding out. It suits spare duvets, pillows, suitcases and seasonal clothing.
How high does the base lift on the Abigail Double?
The slat base rises to about 125 cm above the storage floor when fully open. Leave that much clear height above the bed, and keep a low shelf or sloping ceiling in mind if the bed sits under one.
How tall is the headboard on the Abigail Double?
The headboard stands 86 cm from the floor and is about 9 cm thick, with roughly 56 cm of it showing above the base. That is tall enough to lean against while reading and still leaves the wall above it usable.
How many cartons does the Abigail Double bed frame arrive in?
It arrives in two cartons. Carton A is 152 x 88.5 x 10.5 cm at 15.5 kg, and carton B is 197 x 30 x 21.5 cm at 27 kg. Measure your hallway and stairwell against the 197 cm carton.
What is the Abigail Double bed frame made of?
A fabric-upholstered frame in grey over a poplar slat base, with plastic feet and a breathable non-woven lining on the enclosed storage base. The assembled frame weighs 38.5 kg.
Is assembly required for the Abigail Double bed frame?
Assembly is required. The frame arrives flat in two cartons and is put together in the room where it will be used, which is easier than carrying an assembled frame through the house.
