Hybrid Classic Single Mattress
About this mattress
The LivingTopia Hybrid Classic Single is a pocket-spring and foam mattress made to the New Zealand single size, 92cm x 188cm. A 16cm pocket spring unit on 1.8mm wire carries the load spring by spring, and above it sit 3.5cm of wave foam, 1cm of ventilated open-cell foam and 1cm of firm support foam, giving a surface that reads Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The cover is a soft knitted fabric certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams are certified to CertiPUR-US®. It is 20cm thick with a tight top and weighs 17.2kg. It arrives roll-packed in a 28cm x 28cm x 102cm carton, which is easier to carry up a narrow stairwell into a child's or spare room than a single at full loft, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.
Who this mattress suits
- A child or teenager in a 92 cm single bed, where a flat supportive surface matters more than depth.
- Spare rooms and sleepouts where the mattress has to come through a narrow door and up a stairwell in one carton.
- Stomach and back sleepers under about 180 cm, since the single measures 188 cm end to end.
Why choose the Hybrid Classic
Hybrid means two systems doing separate jobs in one mattress. The 16 cm pocket spring unit under a single sleeper is built on 1.8 mm wire and is not zoned, so the springs behave the same way from head to foot and each one compresses only where it is loaded.
Above the springs are three foam layers: 3.5 cm of wave foam, then 1 cm of ventilated open-cell foam, then 1 cm of firm support foam. The ventilated layer has an open structure that lets air move through it rather than trapping it inside the foam.
Across the three Hybrid mattresses we describe, firmness does not follow height. This Classic single is Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The Hybrid Plus at 25 cm is Medium Firm, 4 out of 10, and has the most give at the surface because of its memory foam layer. The Hybrid Prime at 32 cm goes the other way, Firm at 2 out of 10 on a taller spring unit. For the firmest surface choose the Prime; for the most give, the Plus.
The mattress is compressed and rolled at the factory and arrives in a 28 cm x 28 cm x 102 cm carton. At single size that is often the difference between one person carrying it in and two people turning a 92 cm mattress around a corner. The knitted cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams to CertiPUR-US®; certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

Frequently asked questions
How firm is this single mattress?
It is Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. There is very little sink at the surface, which suits stomach and back sleepers and anyone who dislikes the feeling of settling into a mattress.
Why does the Hybrid Plus feel softer than this one and the Prime?
Because of what sits above the springs. The Plus is Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest, and it has a memory foam layer this Classic does not. The Prime is taller again at 32 cm but firmer, 2 out of 10, on a deeper spring unit. Height and firmness do not run in the same direction across the three.
What does the ventilated foam layer do?
It is 1 cm of open-cell foam sitting between the wave foam and the spring unit. Its structure is open rather than closed, so air can move through the layer instead of being held inside it. We do not claim a temperature effect from it.
What certification does this mattress have?
The knitted cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams are certified to CertiPUR-US®. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.
What sheets do I need for it?
Standard New Zealand single fitted sheets. At 20 cm the mattress is inside the depth ordinary sheets are cut for, so you do not need a deep-wall set.
Can I flip this mattress over?
No. The comfort layers sit on one side only, so it is not made to be slept on both faces. Rotate it head to foot every few months instead.
