About this mattress

The LivingTopia Hybrid Classic Super King is a pocket-spring and foam mattress made to the New Zealand super king size, 183cm x 203cm. A 16cm unzoned pocket spring unit on 1.8mm wire does the supporting, with 3.5cm of wave foam, 1cm of ventilated open-cell foam and 1cm of firm support foam above it, for a feel of Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. Its soft knitted cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and its foams to CertiPUR-US®. Height is 20cm with a tight top, and the mattress weighs 35.4kg. It arrives roll-packed in a 28cm x 28cm x 193cm carton, which is the difference between carrying a box down a hallway and steering 183cm of mattress through it, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Unzoned 16 cm spring unit wound from 1.8 mm wire
Springs work independently, so one side of the bed does not set the other.
Firm, 3 out of 10, where 10 counts as softest
Shallow comfort layers keep the sleeping surface level rather than plush.
Ventilated foam, 1 cm deep
The open cell structure lets air travel through the layer.
183 cm wide at a 20 cm height
Standard super king fitted sheets fit, so no deep-wall set is needed.
OEKO-TEX and CertiPUR-US certified
Every layer accounted for and certified.

Who this mattress suits

  • Couples who want the full 183 cm of width and are prepared to give the floor space to a super king frame.
  • Households where children or a dog end up on the bed and the extra width earns its keep.
  • Buyers who want a firm, flat surface at the largest New Zealand size without moving up to a thicker mattress.

Why choose the Hybrid Classic

What holds a 183 cm mattress up is the spring unit, and here it is 16 cm deep on 1.8 mm wire with no zoning. Each spring is pocketed separately, so the surface responds locally rather than as one sheet across nearly two metres of width.

Foam does the first part of the work: 3.5 cm of wave foam, then a 1 cm ventilated open-cell layer, then 1 cm of firm support foam sitting on the springs. The ventilated layer is open in structure so air can move through it, which is a description of the foam and not a claim about how warm the bed will be.

In a 183 cm bed the choice between the three Hybrid tiers is worth making deliberately, because firmness does not rise with height. This Classic is Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest, at 20 cm. The Plus at 25 cm is Medium Firm, 4 out of 10, and gives the most at the surface because it adds memory foam. The Prime at 32 cm is Firm, 2 out of 10, and is the firmest of the three. Most give, the Plus; firmest, the Prime.

Roll-packing matters most at this size. A super king at full loft has to be angled through doorways by two people; the same mattress in a 28 cm x 28 cm x 193 cm carton is a straightforward carry. The cover meets OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foams meet CertiPUR-US®, with certificate numbers available from our team on request.

Firmness is felt, not measured. Body shape, weight and sleeping position all change how the same surface reads, so use this level to compare our mattresses with each other rather than as a promise of how it will feel to you.

Standard New Zealand super king fitted sheets fit the 20 cm profile without a deep wall. Frequently asked questions

How firm is the super king?

Firm, 3 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The comfort layers are shallow and the spring unit takes most of the load, so the surface reads flat.

The Plus is cheaper and shorter than the Prime but softer than both. Why?

Because feel comes from the layers above the springs, not the total height. The Plus has a memory foam layer and reads Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest. This Classic is 3 out of 10 and the 32 cm Prime is 2 out of 10, the firmest of the three.

What is the ventilated open-cell foam?

A 1 cm layer with an open structure, sitting between the wave foam and the spring unit. Air can move through it rather than being held inside the foam. We do not claim it makes the bed cooler.

What certification does this mattress have?

The knitted cover is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and the foam layers to CertiPUR-US®. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

Do super king sheets need to be deep-walled?

Not for this mattress. At 20 cm it sits inside the depth standard New Zealand super king fitted sheets are cut for.

Does one person turning over disturb the other on a bed this wide?

Pocketed springs mean less of that movement crosses the bed than on an open-coil mattress, and 183 cm of width puts more distance between sleepers, though some transfer remains.
