About this mattress

The Comfort Pro Pocket Spring Mattress in Single is a 92cm x 188cm single pocket spring mattress built to standard New Zealand dimensions. Support comes from a 24cm independent pocket spring unit divided into five zones, under 4cm of high-density foam that sets the feel at Firm, 2 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The knitted cover is dust-mite resistant, anti-bacterial and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the foam inside is CertiPUR-US® certified. The mattress is 28cm thick with a euro top padded flush to the edge, and weighs 23kg. It ships roll-packed in a 32cm x 32cm x 102cm box, which still goes through a bedroom door on its own, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours of unrolling.

Who this mattress suits

  • A single bed that is somebody's main bed — not a spare-room mattress, but the one slept on every night in a studio, a sleepout or a small flat.
  • Rooms where the bed has to look like furniture — at 28cm on a low base the bed reads as a proper piece rather than a mattress on a frame.
  • Sleepers who wake up sore on soft beds — a firm surface over a 24cm spring core, rather than padding that gives way through the night.

Why choose the Comfort Pro

Twenty-eight centimetres is a main-bedroom depth. Putting it on a single bed is unusual, and it is the whole point of this size: the build is not scaled down to match the footprint, so one person in a small room gets the same spring core and the same euro top as a super king.

Underneath is a 24cm independent pocket spring unit divided into five zones, so support is tuned zone by zone rather than spread evenly from head to foot. Over it sit 4cm of high-density foam, finished as a euro top padded flush to the edge, which is what stops the surface falling away where the mattress meets the frame. The cover is a breathable knitted fabric, dust mite resistant and anti-bacterial, and both layers in contact with a sleeper all night are certified — an OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified cover and CertiPUR-US® certified foam.

It arrives roll-packed, and the euro top means the whole width is usable — sitting on the edge to put shoes on does not fold the mattress under you.

Size and fit

Mattress sizeSingle
Dimensions92 cm x 188 cm
Thickness28 cm
Mattress weight23 kg
Shipping box32 cm x 32 cm x 102 cm
BeddingDeep-wall single fitted sheets

92 cm x 188 cm is the standard New Zealand single size, so any single frame or base built to NZ dimensions takes it. At 28 cm the mattress sits above the standard depth range, so buy deep-wall single fitted sheets rather than relying on the ones already in the cupboard. It is delivered roll-packed and vacuum-sealed in a single box, and once unrolled it settles back out, typically at full height within 72 hours.

Frequently asked questions

Is 28cm too deep for a single bed?

It is deeper than most single mattresses, and that is deliberate: the build is not scaled down to match the footprint, so the 24cm spring unit and 4cm comfort layer are the same as on the larger sizes. On a low frame or base it gives the bed the presence of a main-bedroom mattress.

Will ordinary single fitted sheets fit?

At 28cm the mattress sits above the depth range standard fitted sheets are cut for, so deep-wall single fitted sheets are the ones to buy. The mattress itself is 92cm x 188cm, the New Zealand single standard, so the width and length are normal.

What does the five-zone spring system do?

The spring unit is divided into five zones along its length, so support is tuned zone by zone rather than spread evenly from head to foot. Each spring also sits in its own fabric pocket and compresses under the weight directly above it.

How firm is it?

It is Firm, 2 out of 10 on the Betalife softness scale where 10 is softest, which is the firmest level in the Comfort range. There is still 4cm of high-density foam above the springs, so it is a firm surface rather than a hard one.

What is a euro top, and how is it different from a tight top?

A euro top is a padded layer stitched flush to the edge of the mattress, so the padding runs right out to the perimeter. A tight top is quilted flat, with the padding held inside the cover. The practical difference is at the edges: on a euro top the outer band feels like the middle rather than dropping away.

How does it arrive, and how long before it is at full height?

It ships roll-packed in a sealed box measuring 32cm x 32cm x 102cm at 24.5kg, which still goes through a bedroom door on its own. Unroll it onto the base and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.
