About this mattress

The Comfort Prime 7 Zone Pocket Spring Mattress in King is a 167cm x 203cm king pocket spring mattress built to standard New Zealand dimensions. Support comes from a 30cm independent pocket spring unit divided into seven zones, under 2cm of high-density foam and a 1cm comfort layer that together set the feel at Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The knitted cover is made with Eco Comfort Fibre, dust-mite resistant, anti-bacterial and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the foams inside are CertiPUR-US® certified. The mattress is 33cm thick with a euro top padded flush to the edge, has handles on both sides, and weighs 46.7kg. It ships roll-packed in a 32cm x 32cm x 177cm box, which turns corners a flat king mattress will not, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours of unrolling.

Who this mattress suits

  • A large main bedroom where the bed is 167 cm wide and both sides need to feel the same.
  • Two people of different builds who want the support tuned along the bed rather than spread evenly.
  • Heavier body weights, where 30 cm of spring is doing the work instead of foam.

Why choose the Comfort Prime

Choose between these two on division, not on hardness. Prime reads medium firm at 4 out of 10 and the Comfort Pro is the firmer of the pair at 2 out of 10, but Prime is the deeper and more zoned build: seven zones through 30 cm of spring, against five through 24 cm on the Pro. Across 167 cm of width those seven zones give each of you the same sequence of support down your own side. A surface that pushes back hard means the Pro; more sections under a slightly softer surface means this one.

Width is what tests a support system, and at 167 cm the centre of the bed carries two people at once. Thirty of the 33 centimetres here are spring, with 2 cm of high-density foam over a 1 cm comfort layer on top. Each spring is encased on its own, which keeps the middle from settling below the sides and stops movement crossing the width.

The cover is a knitted fabric made with Eco Comfort Fibre, dust mite resistant and anti-bacterial, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, over CertiPUR-US® certified foams. The euro top runs the padding flush to the edge, so 167 cm of width is 167 cm of usable bed.

At 46.7 kg the handles on both sides stop being a detail and start being the reason you can get it onto the base at all.

Frequently asked questions

How firm is the Comfort Prime King?

It is medium firm, 4 out of 10 on our scale where 10 is softest. The 3 cm of foam gives at the surface and the 30 cm seven-zone spring unit does the supporting underneath.

Is the Prime firmer than the Comfort Pro?

No — the Pro is firmer, at 2 out of 10 against the Prime's 4. The Prime is the deeper and more zoned build: seven zones across 30 cm of spring, where the Pro has five across 24 cm. Buy the Pro if you want the surface to push back hard; buy the Prime if you want the support divided into more sections under a slightly softer surface.

Will I feel my partner moving?

Much less than on a continuous spring mattress. Each spring is encased on its own, and at 167 cm wide there is a lot of independently sprung mattress between the two of you.

What are the handles on the sides for?

Moving it. The mattress weighs 46.7 kg and is 33 cm thick, and the handles are there so two people can lift and square it on the base rather than drag it.

What certification does this mattress have?

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 on the knitted cover and CertiPUR-US® on the foams — the surface against your skin and the layers under your body are both covered. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

What size sheets do I need?

Deep-wall king fitted sheets. At 33 cm this is the deepest mattress in the range, so check the sheet's wall measurement before buying rather than assuming a deep-wall sheet will reach.
