About this mattress

The Comfort Classic Pocket Spring Mattress in King is a 167cm x 203cm king pocket spring mattress built to standard New Zealand dimensions. Support comes from a full independent pocket spring unit, every spring in its own fabric pocket, under a high-density foam comfort layer that sets the feel at Medium Firm, 4 out of 10 where 10 is softest. The knitted cover is dust-mite resistant, anti-bacterial and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the foam inside is CertiPUR-US® certified. The mattress is 18cm thick with a tight top and weighs 30.0kg. It ships roll-packed in a 28cm x 28cm x 177cm box, so a 167cm mattress never has to be carried in flat, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours of unrolling.

Who this mattress suits

  • Room to spread out. At 167 cm it gives about 7 cm more per person than a queen.
  • Family beds. Wide enough for the mornings someone small climbs in.
  • Larger main bedrooms. The size that makes a big room feel finished.

Why choose the Comfort Classic

Eighteen centimetres, tight top, no pillow pad on the surface — which is exactly why the fitted sheets already in your cupboard go straight on instead of deep-wall ones.

Inside, the construction is the argument. A full independent pocket spring unit carries the load, each spring encased so it compresses on its own and one side of the bed stays out of the other's business. Over the springs, high-density foam brings the surface to a medium-firm 4 out of 10. The knitted cover is dust-mite resistant, anti-bacterial and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified; the foam is CertiPUR-US® certified.

Saturday morning and there are four of you on it — two adults, a small person, and whoever else climbed up — and everyone still has their own patch. Through the week you each get a whole side of the bed, no negotiating required.

BeddingStandard New Zealand king fitted sheets

167 cm x 203 cm is the standard New Zealand king mattress size, so it fits any king frame or base built to NZ dimensions. At 18 cm high it takes standard king fitted sheets, not deep-wall ones. Delivery is roll-packed and vacuum-sealed in a single carton, so a bed this wide still gets into the room in one piece; unroll it onto the base and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Features

Feature
  • Independent pocket spring support unit — every spring sits in its own fabric pocket, so one person turning over stays on their side of the bed.
  • High-density foam comfort layer — cushioning between you and the springs, so the surface gives before the spring unit does.
  • Medium Firm feel, 4 out of 10 on the Betalife softness scale — a little give at the surface, hips held level with the shoulders.
  • Tight top finished at 18cm — ordinary king fitted sheets go straight on, no deep-wall bedding to buy.
  • Breathable knitted cover, dust mite resistant and anti-bacterial — a cleaner surface to sleep on night after night.
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified cover, CertiPUR-US® certified foam — certified on both layers you are in contact with all night.
  • 167cm x 203cm, the New Zealand king standard — fits any king frame or base built to NZ dimensions.
  • Roll-packed into a sealed carton, 28 x 28 x 177cm at 31.8kg — 167cm of mattress in a 28cm-square box, so a tight stairwell stops being the deciding factor; unroll it on the base and it is typically at full height within 72 hours.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between king and super king in New Zealand?

A New Zealand king mattress is 167cm x 203cm and a super king is 183cm x 203cm, so the super king is 16cm wider with the same length. This one is the king at 167cm x 203cm, which is 14cm wider than a queen.

Does the king version feel different from the smaller sizes?

No. Every size in the Comfort Classic range is built the same way, with independent pocket springs, a high-density foam comfort layer, a tight top and an 18cm finished height, and all of them are rated Medium Firm at 4 out of 10 for softness. What changes across the sizes is the footprint, not the feel.

On a bed this wide, does one person's movement still reach the other side?

Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and compresses independently, so movement stays close to where it starts. Across a 167cm width there is also more distance between the two sleepers than on a queen. It reduces partner disturbance rather than removing it.

Will standard king fitted sheets fit an 18cm mattress?

Yes. 18cm sits inside the depth that ordinary king fitted sheets are cut for, so deep-wall bedding is not required. The height is 18cm because the build is a tight top, with no pillow-top pad added on the surface.

Which parts of this mattress are certified?

Two parts. The knitted cover fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, and the foam inside is CertiPUR-US certified. Those are the cover you lie against and the comfort layer directly beneath it. Certificate numbers are available from our team on request.

How is a king mattress packaged and delivered?

The mattress weighs 30.0kg and is roll-packed into one sealed carton measuring 28 x 28 x 177cm at 31.8kg. 167cm of mattress in a box 28cm square means a tight stairwell or a narrow landing stops being the deciding factor, and it is typically at full height within 72 hours of being unrolled.
